Lose Weight Review – Your Support Place

    May 4, 2010

Dieting –we’ve all been there, some with more success than others. It seems as through every time we turn around there is a new diet or a new product that is supposed to make weight loss a reality. In fact now there is even a reality TV show “The Biggest Loser” devoted to losing weight.

How are we supposed to make intelligent choices when there are so many options? “And so many conflicting opinions?” Dr. Dean Ornish says NO fat for a healthy heart and body. Louise Gittleman in her book “The Fat Flush Plan” supports this theory. While the Dr. Atkins diet is the exact opposite. And reports indicate that some people have lost weight on both.

For as many products and supplements, diets and purchase meal plans that there are – there are as many theories about what the human body needs to function properly. The raw food diet, the juice diet, the 8 glasses of water a day theory, the no grain diet, the metabolic typing program, the Maker’s Diet based on proper enzymes and healthy bacteria, the Sugar Shock & Lick the Sugar Diets, or the Low Glycemic diet, different body types and the Circadian prescription (based on your personal circadian rhythm), or the Fiber Up Slim Down system by Prevention Magazine, the Insulin Resistant Diet and Ultrametabolism by Dr. Mark Hyman.

Are you dizzy yet? In part, the truth lies somewhere in the middle of all of this and begins with you. You are the only one that can judge how foods/supplements and diets affect you.

Does this mean that you have to try every product or diet until you find the right one? NO. One of the easiest ways to begin is to keep a food journal. In it you note everything you eat & drink. You also note any changes you experience such as the obvious ones like headache, nausea, upset stomach, constipation or diarrhea. But there more subtle ones to look for like a small heat flush, or a redness in your face, or itching, sneezing, unexpected acne, more mucous in your throat, dry mouth or thirst, cravings and hunger.

There are a number of good programs that help you sort through things and understand how your body works.

In these pages we will review and recommend products, diets or programs if they have merit. We will also provide resources to you to assess your own situation. Come back often and check out the categories and recent posts to find the latest information.
